What is Innocence?

Invite students to discuss the word ‘innocent’ and ‘innocence’.

Before: ask students to list the kinds of ‘cares’ from which a young boy of eleven should be protected.

After: Repeat the exercise once students have watched the film. What new experiences do students want to add to the list? Having completed this activity, invite them to cross-check these ‘experiences’ against the UN Declaration on the Rights of the Child. In what ways are children’s rights in Innocent Voices violated?
